Final Blog Post for Project 1

For this project I decided to do my projection mapping on a pair of skis. I originally wanted to portray video footage of people skiing down the vertical of the skis but when I tested this out it was pretty hard to see what was going on. Since my original idea didn’t work out I decided that another option would be to project smaller designs on the skis, and then portray the footage of the skiers behind the skis. I did this by forming a giant circle quad as the background, and using the ski edit video as the video playing behind the skis. Then I added a rectangular quad in the shape of the two skis. Overtop of that, I put another triangular quad and put the ski edit video playing in that quad as well. I then made a tiny circle quad within that triangle and added in the music video of the song I wanted to play during the performance. Overall, I think the performance turned out really well. Every beat or two I would change the effect on the rectangular quad therefore changing the designs the skis were. I also played both the ski edit video and another skiing video I discovered back and forth throughout the presentation as it was happening. I really liked this project.
